HSHC receives funding from a variety of sources. Some contribute to our day-to-day operations while others provide grants for special projects.
Medical Services Insurance (MSI)
Our doctors donate a portion of their MSI billings for patients seen and services performed at the clinic.
Health and Wellness (DHW)
The Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness supports HSHC in two different ways: by funding the Anonymous HIV Testing program and by granting money to the Nova Scotia Association for Sexual Health (NSASH), which in turn distributes a portion to its member organizations including HSHC.
The United Way of Halifax Region provides much needed funds specifically for our Community Education program. Each year our Community Educator gives over 50 presentations to more than 1,000 people on a variety of sexual and reproductive health topics.
Department of Community Services (DCS)
The Nova Scotia Department of Community Services supports HSHC each year to help offset operational costs which in turn permits us to assist a number of the department's clients.
LifeStyles® condoms, a global brand that is well known and respected for its reliability and proven protection, are generously donated to the Centre by Ansell Canada, as well as LifeStyles® personal lubricant.
The Plum Foundation
Located in Southern California, The Plum Foundation has been quite generous to HSHC over the years assisting with operational funding, community education, and the purchase of computers and printers.
The IWK has generously supported HSHC for the development and delivery of a new program titled "Let's Talk About Sex and Healthy Relationships" as part of our Community Education program.
Capital District Health Authority (CDHA)
A number of Community Health Boards (CHBs) from Capital Health have sponsored various projects including the development and launch of this website. CHBs are representative of their respective communities and provide an important community voice in decision making. All CHB positions are volunteer and are coordinated by a Capital Health employee.
We would not be able to provide all the services we do if it were not for the generous donations we receive. To learn more about how you could make a donation, please click on Donate! at the top of this page.
